Join AARP to Learn About ADUs – An Affordable Housing Option for Pittsburgh Families
Now, more than ever, Pittsburgh communities require innovative housing solutions to meet the needs for today’s families and tomorrow's.
Join AARP Pittsburgh for a free virtual workshop on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 12-1pm to learn about what an Accessory Dwelling Unit, or ADU, is and how ADUs can provide an affordable living option for people of all ages. Registration is required – sign up here to attend: https://cvent.me/P0xPEe.
ADUs go by many other names - homeowners have called them carriage houses or mother-in-law suites for years. ADUs can be used to keep multi-generational families together, to give homeowners the option to rent part of their property in order to make their mortgages or property taxes more affordable, and to give families more options for aging in place.
This presentation will be led by affordable housing advocate and policy expert Eli Spevak of Orange Splot LLC and will educate attendees on the benefits of ADUs. The workshop will also feature Rick Swartz, Executive Director of Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation, who will share how ADUs are being piloted as an innovative affordable housing solution in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.
Community members, resident groups, housing organizations, developers, advocates, and policy makers are all welcome to attend. Opportunity for Q&A with our featured speakers will be provided.
