Improving High-Speed Internet Access in Kansas

Posted on 06/21/23 by The AARP Bulletin

The Kansas Office of Broadband Development is working to expand access to high-speed internet with an influx of federal funding.

In December, the state said it received nearly $5.7 million in federal money for high-speed internet under the bipartisan infrastructure law passed in 2021. The White House expects Kansas to receive at least $100 million overall to boost internet access.

Later this year, the state aims to submit to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration a plan for how to use the new federal dollars.

AARP Kansas is encouraging residents to let the state’s broadband office know whether they have access to high-speed internet and whether it’s affordable.
