Lewis explains, “SMP stands for Senior Medicare Patrol, a nonprofit organization funded by the Administration for Community Living. We educate and empower Medicare beneficiaries, their caregivers, and family members on Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse.”

“Right now, the hottest scams we're seeing include urinary catheter scams, durable medical equipment (DME) fraud, and the resurgence of genetic testing scams,” Lewis says, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and awareness.
Lewis advises listeners to regularly review their Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) or Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to ensure all charges are accurate and to contact their primary care provider if anything seems suspicious.
