Get Ready to Vote in Local Texas Elections

If you want to vote by mail in the city and county elections on Saturday, May 6, plan ahead.
To be eligible for a mail-in ballot, Texas voters must be 65 or older, be sick or have a disability, be out of the county on election day and during early voting, or have another acceptable reason. Applications must be received by local election clerks (not postmarked) by Tuesday, April 25.
AARP Texas encourages voters age 65 and older or those with disabilities to check the box on the mail-in ballot application to indicate they want an “annual” application. The request covers all elections in the calendar year.
In-person early voting runs from Monday, April 24, to Tuesday, May 2. Photo ID is required. Those without one may fill out a form and present another form of ID, such as a utility bill, paycheck or bank statement.
