Fraud Prevention Highlighted in Oregon

AARP Oregon teamed up with experts across the state to tackle fraud during the summer "Scam Jam." The virtual event was an interactive workshop that provided resources, tips and tools to attendees.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum encouraged those in attendance to share what they learned during the Scam Jam with at least five family members, neighbors or friends.

"That's how together we can fight frauds and scams," she said.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, more than $5.8 billion was lost to scams in reports received by the agency. Chuck Harwood, regional director for the Federal Trade Commission, provided tips to recognize imposters.
