Elizabeth Dole Foundation provides fellowship opportunities for military family caregivers

Every day, spouses, parents, family members, and other loved ones provide voluntary care for their wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans. These “hidden heroes” assist with medical care, cooking and feeding, grooming, finances, grocery shopping, transportation, and much more. It’s important for caregivers to periodically step away from their responsibilities to renew themselves, but in reality, most don’t have time for the self-care they need.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation Caregiver Fellowship recognizes that military caregivers invest significant time and energy into caring for their loved one, and that finding “you” time is challenging. The Fellowship is an opportunity for military caregivers to do something for themselves by applying for the 2024 Dole Caregiver Fellowship program.

Who can apply? Spouses, parents, family members, and loved ones who provide support to a wounded, ill, injured, or aging service member or veteran. Caregivers of all ages and eras from all 50 states and U.S. territories are welcome to apply. Fill out the application available here. The application deadline is December 23.

The two-year Elizabeth Dole Foundation Caregiver Fellowship includes:

• A warm community of caregiver peers who understand and can relate to your unique experience.
• Travel to Washington, D.C. for in-person training sessions, special events, meetings with policymakers on Capitol Hill, and networking. The Foundation covers travel costs and accommodations.
• Leveraging your lived experience to inform and inspire support initiatives for caregivers. Your ideas drive the work the Foundation does every day.
• Access to personal growth, mental wellness, and leadership opportunities.
• Gaining lifelong friendships and a family to lean on through the ups and downs of your caregiving journey.
