AARP Vermont’s 2024 Lobby Day: A Better Place to Live and Age
AARP Vermont is proud to announce its highly anticipated Lobby Day scheduled for March 20, 2024, at the state Capitol in Montpelier. This event promises to be a powerful demonstration of civic engagement and community advocacy.
AARP Vermont’s Lobby Day will be a chance for AARP volunteers and community members to connect with lawmakers and raise awareness of issues important to Vermonters aged 50 and over. The theme of the Lobby Day is “making Vermont a better place to live and age,” and issue areas that will be discussed include: support for family caregivers, investing in age-friendly communities, affordable and accessible housing, transportation, and financial security. The day will be filled with meaningful discussions, as volunteers engage with elected officials on critical legislative priorities affecting the 50+ community.
“Lobby Day offers our members and volunteers an opportunity to engage with their elected representatives, to understand the legislative process, and to make sure they know where we stand on issues of concern,” says Greg Marchildon, AARP Vermont state director. “It's important for older Vermonters to see their elected representatives at work and for lawmakers to hear directly from their constituents.”
This Lobby Day underscores AARP Vermont's unwavering commitment to grassroots strategies and direct engagement between older Vermonters and elected officials. It serves as a testament to the organization's dedication to advocacy, community, and the overall betterment of its members' lives.
AARP Vermont invites all volunteers and community members to join them on March 20, 2024 at the state Capitol as they stand together in solidarity to advocate for positive change. Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Vermonters across the state.
