AARP leadership fanned out across Washington, DC today for an 11th hour lobbying blitz to seek changes to the reconciliation bill. Hundreds of AARP staff members and volunteers braved the 110-degree heat to make their voices heard across the Capitol. With over 330 meetings scheduled with parties from both sides of the aisle, AARP met with Congress to urge action on critical issues, including:

  • Protecting Social Security
  • Strengthening support for our country’s 48 million family caregivers
  • Defending Medicaid health care and food assistance

With hundreds of voices, AARP sent one powerful message for lawmakers: protect what matters most to older Americans.

Virgin Islands State Director, Troy A. de Chabert-Schuster met with Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett this afternoon. "As always, [Congresswoman Plaskett] completely supports all of AARP's requests on behalf of the older population," stated Schuster.
