AARP Montana Offers Resource on Utility Assistance

Posted on 02/28/22 by The AARP Bulletin

Many Montanans facing rising energy costs are unaware of resources to help them avoid having to choose between paying for heating bills and other necessities.

Now homeowners and renters can turn to AARP Montana, at  aarp.org/MTUtilityHelp, for information on numerous energy assistance programs.

The options include:

  • The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, for low- and fixed-income adults;
  • The Low-Income Water Assistance Program;
  • The Weatherization Assistance Program, which reduces energy consumption and consumer costs through heating efficiency assistance; and
  • Energy Share of Montana, which helps primarily through onetime heating-bill assistance.

Many utilities also offer assistance, rebates and budget billing.
