Protecting Montanans from fraud & identity theft has long been an AARP priority. Take advantage of FREE document shredding on Fraud Fighting Fridays.

AARP Montana is fighting identity theft, and invites everyone—members and nonmembers alike—to bring up to two boxes or bags of papers to a free shredding event.

Keep Your Confidential Documents out of the Hands of Cons
Gather your outdated bank statements, canceled checks, credit card junk mail and receipts with identifying information and bring them to the local UPS store. The documents will be shredded for you while you watch.

“Because most identity thieves obtain information through paper-based sources, securely disposing of sensitive documents is a good way to keep your personal information out of the hands of identity thieves,” said Nancy Andersen, AARP Montana outreach director.

Identity theft tops the list of types of fraud 50-plus Montanans worry about, followed by credit card theft and Internet fraud.
