AARP Michigan Honors Veterans and Their Families During Veterans and Military Families Month
In recognition of Veterans and Military Families Month, AARP Michigan is honoring the service and sacrifices of veterans, active-duty service members and military families with an array of resources and information. AARP Michigan is committed to providing practical tools and advocacy for Michigan’s nearly 600,000 veterans and their families, offering valuable articles, guides and personal stories through its dedicated Veterans webpage.
“Our veterans and their families have given so much in service to our country, and AARP Michigan is here to ensure they have access to the benefits, support and resources they need,” said Paula D. Cunningham, AARP Michigan State Director. “This month, and every month, we are pleased to provide targeted tools and programs that can help Michigan’s veterans and their families live healthy, secure and fulfilling lives.”
Resources and Programs for Veterans and Military Families
AARP recently updated its Health Benefits Navigator: Digital Edition, a comprehensive tool designed to help veterans and military families navigate available healthcare resources. This tool simplifies access to vital healthcare information, from VA benefits to Medicare, and includes step-by-step guidance to help veterans make informed decisions about their health. The Digital Edition is easily accessible and available to all Michigan veterans and military family members.
Programs and Events
Throughout November, AARP Michigan will feature a variety of programs and events dedicated to veterans and military families. These initiatives provide opportunities for veterans to connect, find support and gain information on key issues impacting their lives. Highlights include:
- Virtual Town Halls on veterans' benefits, healthcare and financial security.
- Educational Webinars on topics such as caregiving, mental health resources and managing finances after military service.
- Local Events across Michigan, where veterans and their families can connect with other military members in their communities and access resources.
