AARP Indiana seeks Fort Wayne volunteers for fun, fellowship, advocacy

If you’re looking for an outlet for your volunteerism and have a passion for making a difference, we want to meet you at our Fort Wayne Volunteer Open House June 7.

“Team Fort Wayne is in a unique position to address issues impacting older Hoosiers in our community,” Team Leader Jeff Hale said. “As a volunteer, you’re joining something bigger than yourself and setting an example for people of all ages to influence positive change.”

Fort Wayne volunteers have been at the center of a previous Complete Streets effort, advocating for the city to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, and hosting engaging cultural events throughout the Summit City, such as tours of the historic Allen County Court House.

This casual volunteer call-out will feature coffee, pastries, and mingling with current AARP Indiana volunteers from 10 to 11 a.m. Hale and AARP Indiana staff members will provide a brief, informal presentation on what it means to be a volunteer with the association and what the team is working on.

“Volunteering is a great way to make friends and connections in the community,” Hale said. “We can get a lot done for Fort Wayne while working together and having fun along the way.”

Space is limited and registration is required.
