AARP Idaho Donates $5,000 to Help Those in Need
Boise Rescue Mission Receives $5K
Local organizations with the purpose of addressing social isolation, homelessness and food insecurity regularly need community assistance. Once again, AARP Idaho will support the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries by donating $5,000 to help continue their valuable work in the Treasure Valley. Last year, AARP Idaho made a similar donation.
AARP Idaho presented the check at a Veterans Day luncheon at the Riverside Hotel in Boise on November 11.
“Many veterans face serious challenges like hunger, financial difficulties, and the despair that comes from loneliness and isolation”, said Lupe Wissel, AARP Idaho state director. “We’re happy to provide charitable support at this critical time for such a tremendous organization like the Boise Rescue Mission.”
Boise Rescue Mission Ministries provides food, shelter, clothing, and opportunities to recover from homelessness for men, women and children in need while restoring the lives of dozens of chronically homeless veterans across Ada and Canyon Counties.
"Serving this country is an honor and privilege. It’s crucial that we as a community honor those who courageously dedicated their lives to defend this nation and support their fellow citizens,” says Rev Bill Roscoe, President/CEO of Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, who served in the Vietnam War. “I am extremely grateful for AARP Idaho’s generosity and partnership in support of our Veterans Ministry Program. This gift will provide crucial services and care and give the homeless veterans we serve a real opportunity to overcome homelessness and make the successful transition to independence.”
