AARP Fraud Watch Network Events

In the month of April, AARP Mississippi has planned events to help Mississippians protect themselves from fraud and scams. Check them out!

Stay one step ahead of identity thieves by shredding personal and financial documents. Reserve your spot for a free drive-through contactless shredding event sponsored by AARP Fraud Watch Network and AARP Mississippi. The shred events will be held in Holly Springs and Jackson.

In Jackson, the shred event will be held on April 20 at the Jackson Revivial Center Church – Downtown, 4655 Terry Road. To register, click here.

In Holly Springs, the shred event will be held on April 27 at Holly Springs Main Street Chamber, 148 East College Ave. To register, click here.

Government Impostor Scams Telephone Town Hall

Tax time is here again and so are impostors. Scammers posing as IRS agents or Treasury Department officials are out there once again, calling and trying to convince taxpayers that they owe back taxes.  Know this: the IRS will initially contact you through the mail if you owe back taxes. Join our Government Impostor Scams Telephone Town Hall at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 to get more tips to avoid scams. To sign up to receive a call and listen in, register here.
