AARP Dallas events sizzle this August!

End your summer on a great note! With workouts, music and brain health webinars, and a tele-town hall on Artificial Intelligence, AARP Dallas is excited to present events that will help you reach your summer goals and have some fun while learning. Below are some of our August events and registration links for each event. All events are free and open to the public. We hope you join us this August!

Nia Moving to Heal Gentle Workout
There are proven health benefits to keeping your body moving! Nia makes it enjoyable, engaging your whole self in movement that incorporates expressive dance and the martial arts to help you feel better physically and emotionally. This gentle workout can be done barefoot at home. Join us every Tuesday at 10 A.M. CT from July 30 through October 1.

Latin Dance Workout
Join AARP Texas and move to the Latin beat in this virtual dance workout series. These wellness-focused classes will cover dances like Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue, with easy-to-follow steps and upbeat music. This workout improves coordination and balance, while you learn new skills and cut loose to the passionate beats of Latin music. Put on your dancing shoes and let’s salsa! Classes are every Wednesday at 2 P.M. CT from August 7 through August 28.

Tai Chi
Get your blood flowing with this graceful form of exercise—Tai Chi! Tai Chi involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner, accompanied by deep breathing. This gentle form of activity allows for each posture to flow into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion to reduce stress and increase mobility. Classes are every Wednesday at 4 P.M. CT from August 7 through August 28.

LEARN ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Artificial Intelligence Tele-town Hall
Curious about AI? Join our engaging townhall to understand the basics of AI, its communication and living benefits, privacy concerns, and safeguarding yourself against AI-driven scams! By learning more about AI and its attributes, AARP Texas can equip you with strategies to stay safe online. Our experts are Darryl Greer, from OATS (Older Adults Technology Services), and Seth Boffeli, Senior Advisor to the AARP Fraud Prevention Program. This tele-town hall is on Tuesday, August 27 at 1 p.m., CT. To join us then, just dial in to (833) 380-0647.
 

MUSIC AND BRAIN HEALTH

The 3 B’s of Music: Beatles, Beethoven & Bach
Join AARP for this series, “The Three B’s of Music,” where award-winning musician Barry Wiesenfeld explores the backgrounds and contributions of the Beatles, Beethoven and Bach. By exploring their influence on later musicians and composers, we will also explore the benefits of how music supports brain health!
These virtual classes occur every Thursday at 7 P.M. CT from August 29 through September 12.
