AARP Arizona to host event highlighting local LGBTQ+ voices
This live event has now ended but you may still register to view the event on demand.
Storytelling can be a beneficial tool for all, and especially for caregivers. This free online event focused on storytelling in the LGBTQ+ community will feature voices of hope, resilience and love that will allow us to reflect on how storytelling can enhance the caregiving journey.
This special event will host Scott McDonald who serves as the Executive Director of Southern Arizona Senior Pride, a special nonprofit in Tucson focused on celebrating, supporting and uniting the area’s LGBTQ+ seniors. Scott has been with his husband Tracy Mack for the last twenty years, the last ten as a married couple. Regrettably, Tracy suffers from a chronic condition over the last five years. They work together to try and manage Tracy’s pain while Scott leads the Senior Pride organization on a full-time basis.
We’ll also meet AZ Rhythm Connection's lead facilitator, Frank Thompson, who will share his own caregiving experience as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the community drum circles he hosts and their impact on well-being.
