About the Event
LifeHouse Theater is thrilled to announce the launch of its 31st season with a one-of-a-kind musical experience that will transport audiences through the songs of their childhood. Robert J. Sherman’s "A Spoonful of Sherman" offers a toe-tapping tribute to some of the most iconic music ever created, celebrating the unforgettable melodies of the Sherman brothers—Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman—and their extraordinary legacy.
This heartwarming musical journey also shines a spotlight on their father, Al Sherman, taking audiences through over 100 years of the Sherman family's remarkable contributions to popular culture. "A Spoonful of Sherman" was originally conceived as a cabaret-style performance, but Robert J. Sherman has masterfully transformed it into a story-driven production that LifeHouse Theater is proud to present as its west coast premiere.
With its energetic combination of song, dance, and live music, the show brings the beloved works of three generations of the Sherman family to life on stage. Audiences will be enchanted by timeless songs from Disney classics such as Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, and the iconic It’s A Small World. This is a nostalgic celebration of the music that has touched the hearts of generations, making it a must-see for theatergoers of all ages.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to bring the timeless work of the Sherman Brothers and their family to LifeHouse,” says LifeHouse Theater President Wayne R. Scott. “The influence of their music cannot be overstated, and it has deeply impacted people all over the world, including myself. In many ways, the inspiration their music has provided helped pave the way for the founding of LifeHouse Theater.”
“A Spoonful of Sherman” is directed by Sarah E. Pearce, a seasoned director at LifeHouse Theater. Pearce is supported by an experienced production team, including assistant director Alyssa Kyranakis, music director Sage Manson, choreographer Michael Milligan, and costume designer Ruth Frasch. Scenic design is crafted by Jacob Michel, with lighting design by Josiah Evans.
The production features a talented cast including Hilary Maiberger, Autumn Manson, Sage Manson, Elizabeth Meinders, Michael Milligan, Zac Swan Van Lent, and Stephen Van Dorn, all of whom have performed extensively across the Inland Empire and beyond. Together, they are set to bring the timeless music of the Sherman Brothers to life for audiences.
