About the Event
Guest curated by Granville Carroll
Reclaiming Hope: Afrofuturist Visions explores Black healing, remembrance and future building through visual art. Exhibition themes center around Afrofuturist concepts related to the imagination, dreaming, hope, beauty, technology and science-fiction. Selected artworks from local and national Black artists from various disciplines and media explore visions of the future that also connect with the past and present. Some artists focus on transforming past traumas to forge new futures, while others take an imaginative approach, envisioning new worlds and divine aspects of Blackness
Creating and responding to personal experiences and collective histories, these artists dare to dream of a world shaped by Black voices and healing.
