About the Event

Join us on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at the South Mountain Recreation Complex in West Orange, NJ for the 27th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Run, Walk, and Fun Fest! This family-friendly, community event is dedicated to supporting children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern NJ. Participating is a fantastic way to engage with the community and create a positive impact. It's not just a run or a walk; it's a celebration of The Arc's vibrant community.

The Building Tomorrows 5K Race features a traffic-free, flat course that includes a double loop around the waterfront. Other features include:

Race t-shirt (guaranteed to runners registered by April 1)

Music

Bag check

Water stop

Post-race refreshments, entertainment, and activities

Walk

Our strength is powered by the commitment of individuals like you. Start a team, join a team, or come on your own to walk the beautiful waterfront loop at the South Mountain Recreation Complex. Walk and fundraise together to enhance the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and support The Arc of Essex County.

Individual walkers and teams are strongly encouraged to fundraise. Create a team and share why this cause means so much to you when you ask your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and classmates to support you.

Registration

$10 per walker

Includes admission to Fun Fest

Guaranteed event t-shirt to those who raise $25+ prior to April 1st

Fun Fest Information

Following the run and walk, stay, play, and enjoy mainstage activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Activities include a children's cooking station, interactive bubble stations, character meet and greets, and more!

Admission Fee

Free for all registered participants

Free for children 5 years old and under

$5 for non-run/walk participants

8 a.m. - 5K Registration

9 a.m. - 5K Kicks Off

9:30 - Walk Registration Opens

10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Fun Fest Entertainment & Activities

10 a.m. - 5K Awards Ceremony

10:30 a.m. - Walk Kicks Off
