Moon River, Stardust, Misty, and Fly Me to the Moon. All of them are in the Great American Songbook along with over 500 other American standards. In fact, the melodies and lyrics to these songs are so irresistible that when we hear them, we swell up with nostalgia.
But even though we've all heard of the Great American Songbook, we don't know much about it. Is it a real book? How were they selected for inclusion in this universally beloved collection of classic songs? And why do we remember the melodies and lyrics nearly a century after they were written?
With over 40 Broadway plays and musicals on their resume, Patti and David answer those questions while they entertain you with some backstage and behind the scenes stories about the composers and crooners who made those songs famous.
