Roanoke ‘Power of Purpose’ Caregiver’s Retreat

Caring for loved ones is a commitment of the heart which incorporates a delicate mix of personal investment and intangible rewards. Each individual faces unique challenges in the process of giving and receiving care. When plans go well, relational bonding is strengthened. When expectations are unmet, the road can be very hard.

AARP Virginia seeks to honor the role of caregiver by providing an evening filled with encouragement and laughter, special treats and helpful information. We’ll begin with healthy appetizers and a film screening of the movie “The Hidden Power of Purpose” followed by a guided discussion. Occupational therapist Wes Jividen will present a workshop focusing on new technologies which can help lighten the load of caregiving tasks. Enjoy free hand and forearm massages and chocolate treats until supplies run out!  Unwind with guided meditation, creative activities, and mindful reflection. Connect with fellow caregivers, share your experiences, and leave feeling refreshed and empowered.
