Celebrate MLK Day with AARP South Carolina at a free screening of Selma, the film that follows Dr. King and community leaders as they organize the 1965 voting rights march.
Join us at the Nickelodeon Theater for the AARP SC Selma Film Screening in Columbia, SC on January 19, 2026, from 1:15 PM to 3:30 PM Eastern Time. This screening is part of AARP South Carolina's MLK Day film series, aimed at creating space for learning, reflection, and dialogue about our shared history. Experience the powerful story behind the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and local activists. Selma brings to life the risks, sacrifices, and moral courage of ordinary people who stood up to secure the right to vote. The film invites us to reflect on the meaning of democracy, civic participation, and the ongoing importance of protecting voting rights. By bringing people together to watch and discuss these important stories, we hope to deepen understanding and highlight the ongoing work needed to advance equity for people and communities of every age.
