Free Paper Shredding Event in Woodland

Drive-Through Shred Event Did you know that every two seconds someone’s identity is stolen? Protect yourself from frauds and scams by making sure paper documents you no longer need are properly shredded and disposed of!

Join the AARP Fraud Watch Network for a FREE drive-through shred event as we work together to combat fraud and identity theft in our community. At our event we will help you dispose of unwanted documents in a FREE, safe, and secure manner. All you must do is (1) register in advance and (2) on Tuesday, September 16 arrive at the Yolo County Fairgrounds (3) check in with one of our volunteers, pop open your trunk, and we will help you shred your paper documents.

AARP volunteers will also be onsite sharing information on how you can protect yourself and loved ones from frauds and scams.

DRY paper documents only (staples and paperclips are ok). No plastic, wires, hardbound books, binding, binder clips, glass, metals, aluminum, rubber, spiral notebooks, hanging file folders, or pre-shredded documents, etc. To help expedite the process, please do not have bags tied or boxes taped shut. Please also ensure papers are loose and not in individual bags in boxes or in individual bags inside larger bags.  

Any containers with wet or moldy papers or with non-paper documents (i.e. plastic, binder clips, metal folder hangers, rubber, rubbish, food wrappers, etc.) will be refused.

Additional information:

· The on-site shred truck will stay on site for the time scheduled or until it reaches capacity, whichever comes first.

· This service is only for personal use, and not intended for businesses.

· Long wait times may be expected for the first half of the event. Please plan accordingly.

Optional:

We will be collecting non-perishable (non-expired) food items (pull tab canned food, ramen, cup of noodles, packaged breakfast or protein bars, packaged snacks, etc.) for the Volunteers of America Veterans Service Center and new blankets, towels (all sizes), and pillows for the Sacramento Stand Down. Please bring any items you would like to donate. Participation is optional and not required to have your paper documents shredded.

This event is free and AARP membership is not required.
