Although best known for its famous authors (Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson) and the “shot heard ‘round the world,” Concord, Massachusetts, also offers a fascinating connection to the Civil War.
In this presentation, you’ll hear what the town’s abolitionists did before 1861 to bring awareness of slavery to others, then, once the war began, how the residents of Concord responded to the national crisis.
