About the Event
Join AARP Vermont and The Alzheimer’s Association, Vermont Chapter for a three-part series designed to empower caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the responsibilities of Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
Each class is scheduled for Mondays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET via Zoom.
Class 1: 10/21
Building Foundations of Caregiving explores the role of caregiver changes they may experience, building a support team and managing stress. Supporting Independence focuses on helping the person take part in daily activities, providing support, safety, and independence.
Class 2: 10/28
Communicating Effectively teaches how dementia affects communication and includes tips for communicating well.
Class 3: 11/4
Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors details common behavior changes, how they are a form of communication, non-medical approaches to behaviors and recognizing when additional help is needed. Exploring Care and Support Services examines how to prepare for future decisions and changes, including respite, residential, and end-of-life care.
Note: You will be signed up for all three classes by registering for this event.
