Protect yourself from identity theft by shredding old documents with sensitive personal information,.
Rhode Island consumers reported more than 2,896 incidents of identity theft in 2024, according to data from the Federal Trade Commission. Shredding old documents with sensitive personal information, such as a Social Security number, is a good way to guard against such crimes.
AARP Rhode Island is pleased to host a series of free shredding events, “Fraud Fighting Fridays,” to help you guard against fraud and identify theft. A maximum of two boxes per person is required – no businesses please. Only paper-based documents are accepted - except cardboard.
You don't need to get out of your vehicle. When you arrive, you will be directed where to stop. Our volunteers will take the materials from your vehicle and place them in the shred truck right there on the premises.
Registration recommended but not required. We look forward to seeing you in Bristol on May 16th !
