About the Event
As we journey through life, we inevitably encounter transitions that challenge our sense of identity and independence. One of the most difficult is the acceptance of caregiving. Whether you already rely on assistance for daily living or foresee this need in the future, preparing for the dance between independence, dependence and interdependence can be an empowering step toward personal growth.
Accepting caregiving isn’t just a physical transition; it also involves a shift in mindset. This session in our four-part series invites participants to:
- Consider mental models feeding resistance to accepting care (e.g. It’s better to give than to receive)
- Explore developing mutuality and trust in the caregiver/receiver relationship
- Explore strategies for handling issues such as finances, the home and important documents
- Ponder what our “very best self” looks like as a receiver of care
Each workshop will include breakout sessions for small group sharing.
