This virtual “Piggy Bank Essentials” presentation will explore how to get paid as a caregiver for a family member or friend.
About the Event
Caregiving for a family member can be time-consuming and emotionally draining. It can be financially draining, too. About 48 million Americans provide care without pay to an adult family member or friend, and they do so for an average of nearly 24 hours per week.
Your chances of getting paid to be a family caregiver are best if you are caring for a U.S. military veteran or someone eligible for Medicaid, but other programs exist.
Join us for Piggy Bank Essentials, as Martin Booker, a member of the AARP Foundation's Financial Health Department, walks us through who gets paid and how. Topics to be covered include:
- Criteria to become a paid caregiver
- What caregivers can be paid for
- State-based caregiver pay programs
- AARP’s CareHub
